The Kid Laroi
The Kid Laroi, real name Charlton Howard, is an Australian rapper and singer. He is signed to Columbia Records and Lil Wayne’s record label, Young Money Entertainment. His debut EP, 14, was released in November 2018 and peaked at number two on the ARIA Singles Chart.
Laroi was born in Sydney, New South Wales, and is of Aboriginal descent. He began making music at the age of 13, and was influenced by American rappers such as Lil Wayne, Eminem, and Kendrick Lamar. Laroi’s first taste of success came with the release of his single “Money” in 2017. The song peaked at number two on the ARIA Singles Chart and was certified platinum by the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA).
In 2018, Laroi was featured on American rapper Juice Wrld’s single “Lucid Dreams”, which peaked at number two on the US Billboard Hot 100. He subsequently featured on the remix of the song, which also peaked at number two on the Hot 100.
